Warm-Up Sketches of Steel

Getting in the mood for Man of Steel. Just over a month up, up, and away!

Above is a rather Reeve-y version of Supes. Below is my take on Zod, Bizarro, and Bruce Wayne. Bruce is the one bottom-center, of course.

Bruce really has it easy, as far as rogues go. There's a reason Penguin doesn't go sailing his umbrella into Metropolis.

Though I would like to see Supes take on some better villains. Maybe Middle-Earth would offer a greater challenge to the Man of Tomorrow!

Especially is Smaug has a Kryptonite-breathing cousin.

The Hobbit Wager

I lost a Rotten Tomatoes wager to Everett Downing when The Hobbit scored a very-unwhopping 65% RT score (needless to say, I had much higher hoped). The stakes were loser draws winner as a character from the film. Here's the spoils of war:

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Shirtmas!

That's right, it's everygnome's favorite time of year! A time when any passerby on the King's Road will gladly give you the shirt off his back, or at least off his Amazon account. Shirtmas is a holiday my gaming group, The Dandies, created because DVDs and White Elephants are for suckas (I mean, at least buy your friend a White Mammoth)! It's an annual T-Shirt exchange where the challenge is to give your assigned friend the t-shirt most specifically tailored to their nerd taste. Sauroniops

Last week, the colossal Moroccan theropod Sauroniops ("The Eye of Sauron") joined the ranks of Mojoceratops and Dracorex Hogwarsti, recently discovered dinosaurs named after nerd icons.

Sauroniops is so-named because the species has only been identified by a single eye socket bone with a distinctive bump. Much like the Dark Lord, who was only identifiable by a badly-burnt helmet after his death.

Peter Jackson couldn't have asked for a cooler publicity stunt.
