WAUGH-HOO!!

This week, I am submitting my application to the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research to join the Waugh dig in South Dakota. This is a dream-come-true for me, I've wanted to be a paleontologist since before I could spell P-A-R-A-S-A-U-R-O-L-O-P-H-U-S. I'll be out there digging with these guys for a week, and while the chances are slim that I'll uncover something, I've already started brainstorming names for my first new species. Let me know if you guys have any ideas.
terrordactyl
tricarrottops
velosithraptor
stlegosaurus
cardartharodon
pixarasaurolophus

Upisode 2
Here's the latest sneak peak of Up. As you can see, Russell is an expert in all things Wilderness and Explorer-y. I had to take four weeks of first aid training to animate the shots of him demonstrating his command of bandaids. Enjoy!

Website of the Day: SkeletalDrawing.com

A great resource for all you dino-philes out there. Check out the skeletal drawing gallery, it's an insightful look at how much we still don't know about dinosaurs.

Orgus Bloath, a "well-connected man"
More gaming art, Star Wars this time. My players received a hologram transmission from Bloath requesting their assistance in a matter on the wrong side of Imperial law.

CHADES CHALLENGE XIX: Nervous Mechas
It's been a long time, but the Chades Challenge is back, with an assignment as challenging as ever. How does one depict a paranoid suit of over-sized mechanical armor? That's up to you brilliant folks to figure out. Since I'm posting late in the week, I'll give you guys till next Friday (March 20) to post your mechas. Sketch greatly!

In other AustinTranslation news, the rivalry poll is over. I was surprised to find how few of the matches were even close. Apparently, the best rivalries are Alien vs. Aliens (20-17, winner: Alien), Scorpion vs. Sub-Zero (18-15, winner: Scorpion), Marianne vs. Ginger (19-16, winner: Marianne), and Kirk vs. Picard (18-14, winner: Picard). Conversely, the hugest shut-out was paper vs. plastic (34-5, paper). I guess we've got a lot of rainforest haters out there (kidding, folks). As for the other rivalries:

Cats or Dogs? Dogs
Coke or Pepsi? Coke
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate
Calvin and Hobbes or Far Side? Calvin and Hobbes
Yeti or Sasquatch? Yeti
Beatles or Stones? Beatles
Marvel or DC? Marvel
Mac or PC? Mac
Flight or Invisibility? Flight
Fortune or Glory? Glory
Montegues or Capulets? Montegues
Democrat or Republican? Democrat
Tyrannosaurus or Velociraptor? Velociraptor
Original Star Wars trilogy or Prequels? Original (And I think we can all agree that Han shot first)

Thanks to everyone who submitted their votes. Having just returned from a heavily Disney-laden vacation, I'm curious which of the Disneyland attractions is truly the most popular. Make sure to have your voice heard once again in this week's poll: What is your favorite Disneyland attraction?

Hold on a second, who's that? It's the one man who can literally hold on to a second, THE TEMPORALIST! This evil genius is head of global criminal organization WOE, and public enemy number one to the citizens of Star City. The full extent of his powers are not completely understood, but he seems to be able to separate himself from time, causing the world around him to freeze while he slinks about altering his environment as he sees fit.

The fearsome foursome, clockwise from left: Voltz, Mungo Man, the Temporalist, Landslide.

"WOE, man."
Emma Coats and Everett Downing have joined the World Organization of Evil. Well, their creations Voltz and Landslide have. WOE is a character design drawing challenge to create supercriminals with unique powers, compelling back stories, and bitchin' outfits.

Below: Voltz, a human battery with no off-switch, Voltz' electric powers make her a true femme FATAL. Drawn by Emma Coats.

Below: Landslide, a criminal mastermind with the ability to manipulate the very earth beneath him, Landslide's antics have caused an avalanche of panic in the streets of Star City. Drawn by Everett Downing.
Below: The first WOE conference. Two minds are better than one, unless they're evil schemers, in which case a brawl is inevitable. Drawn by Emma Coats.

Before the forming of WOE, supervillains would waste precious time and resources battling each other. Drawn by me.

These three supercriminals have put aside their differences and joined forces to unleash a wave of terror as yet unseen by the do-gooding society of superheroes. I hope you will lend your villain to our efforts. Remember, there is no "I" in "WOE".

MUNGO MAN
An aboriginal supervillain with elastic powers and an agent of WOE (the World Organization of Evil). Mungo Man used to track the world's most dangerous animals, but after a tussle with a particularly nasty croc, the aborigine discovered his uncanny elasticity. Animals became far less challenging prey, and he took up the hunting of superheroes. For the right price, any dastardly mastermind can hire Mungo Man to take care of their do-gooding rivals.

I haven't done a Chades Challenge in a while, but if anyone else wants to design an agent of WOE, let me know, and I'll post a link to your blog. After all, there's a lot of heroes out there, and someone's gotta take 'em down.

Well, you can't win 'em all.
