Triceratops meets The Creature

Sketched on the plane ride back from Comic Con. This was my first time to Con, and my mind was blown by the talent and eccentricity all around me. All I could think of on the trip home was monsters and dinosaurs, and these two are my dad's favorites of each category, so I figured it was time they met. Next week, my two favorites: the Mummy meets Apatosaurus!

Your Official Japanese Guide to TS3

I was invited to contribute a message to the Japanese Toy Story fans in their official Toy Story Guide Book. Here's the inside spread:



It reminded me of the sort of magazines and visual guides that I loved as a kid, so the message I wanted to convey was quite clear.

Mojoceratops
The international dinosaur of mystery.

Mojoceratops (sexy-horned head) is up there with Dracorex Hogwartsi (the dragon king of Hogwarts) and Stygimoloch (demon from the river Styx) as the coolest dinosaur names of all-time. Paleontologist Nicholas Longrich says the species was named partly for its flambouyant heart-shaped frill, and partly for the Swedish-made penis enlarger found nearby. Longrich swears it's not his.

The species was found in Canada, just like Mike Myers.

Wall Street Cyclops

My arch-nemesis Nate Wragg is at it again. This time he's got an interview with Bobby Chiu on Sketchoholic. The site is an art-smuggling consortium that mascarades as a friendly design contest. The winner gets Nate's original painting (seen below). I see he's destroying legal tender for his collages now. Anarchist.

Happy Independence Day!
Truth, justice and libations for all.

My New Year's resolution this year was to cook more and (aside from a failed attempt at chili) this is about the best I've achieved. Still, these regal eagles are quite the patriotic treat. If you'd like my recipe, forget it! I'm taking it to the grave.

In the words of my friend James, "May your fireworks be awesome and your enemies line up in the open with bright-colored uniforms."

"The boy’s name is Sam. He’s nine years old, and is apparently suffering from a rare kidney disorder. The steroids he is being given to stay alive are also stunting his growth. That’s why he looks the way he does."
