CHADES CHALLENGE XXXIII:
HAIR-STYLISTS OF THE DEAD

"Just take a little of the t--"

Apologies for the tardiness of this post. I wasn't even going to do a drawing at all until I saw this contribution from the infamous Steve MacLeod (he's so famous, he's IN famous!):

And a ghastly coiffer from the reliably awesome Zane Yarbrough:

A late entry from the late Trip Park:

Added August 30:
Wow, the Chades Challengers just keep rolling in. This one's from character animator Lady Garland.

If you'd like to submit a zombified beautician, let me know, and I'll post it here. Or you can start work on CHADES CHALLENGE XXXIV: STAND-OFFISH PICKLES (to be posted Friday, September 10...honestly).

Satan's Cess Pool

No, Satan's Cell Pool is not a new name for my blog. It's a white water rapid that I blasted through with some friends this weekend. I'm proud to say that courageous young lady getting launched off the front of the vessel is my girlfriend, Sarah. She will be missed.

I had so much fun, I had to sketch it the next day at church. And, yes, my sketchbook is always with me at church. Jesus gives me some of my best ideas!

CHADES CHALLENGE XXXII:
HOT-HEADED COAL MINERS

This canary just found out why the other coal miners keep him around. Needless to say, he's a bit offended. Next Chades Challenge (to be posted August 13th): HAIR STYLISTS OF THE DEAD

Here's Zane Yarbrough's contribution:

On a completely unrelated note, happy Shark Week everybody!

Triceratops meets The Creature

Sketched on the plane ride back from Comic Con. This was my first time to Con, and my mind was blown by the talent and eccentricity all around me. All I could think of on the trip home was monsters and dinosaurs, and these two are my dad's favorites of each category, so I figured it was time they met. Next week, my two favorites: the Mummy meets Apatosaurus!

Your Official Japanese Guide to TS3

I was invited to contribute a message to the Japanese Toy Story fans in their official Toy Story Guide Book. Here's the inside spread:

It reminded me of the sort of magazines and visual guides that I loved as a kid, so the message I wanted to convey was quite clear.

CHADES CHALLENGE XXXI:
HIGH-FALUTIN' SCUBA DIVERS

A truly high-falutin' diver customizes his gear to suit his stylistic needs.

"We made ours with a special rabbit-ear on top so we could pipe in some music."

If you have any divers to contribute, let me know and I'll post them below. Or you can get a head start on the next assignment, CHADES CHALLENGE XXXII: HOT-HEADED COAL MINERS.

Mojoceratops
The international dinosaur of mystery.

Mojoceratops (sexy-horned head) is up there with Dracorex Hogwartsi (the dragon king of Hogwarts) and Stygimoloch (demon from the river Styx) as the coolest dinosaur names of all-time. Paleontologist Nicholas Longrich says the species was named partly for its flambouyant heart-shaped frill, and partly for the Swedish-made penis enlarger found nearby. Longrich swears it's not his.

The species was found in Canada, just like Mike Myers.

Wall Street Cyclops

My arch-nemesis Nate Wragg is at it again. This time he's got an interview with Bobby Chiu on Sketchoholic. The site is an art-smuggling consortium that mascarades as a friendly design contest. The winner gets Nate's original painting (seen below). I see he's destroying legal tender for his collages now. Anarchist.
