Happy Birthday to Eric Hann and Jason Topolski

I love doing birthday cards because it's an excellent way to both roast and honor a buddy. The first card is for a pal I've known since highschool. He's a huge fan of Starbucks and Indiana Jones, but I wasn't going to do the kindness of caricaturing him as the hero himself. Plus, this scene between Belloq and Marion really captures Eric's relationship with his wife, Alexa.

The second card was for my buddy Jason, who is co-creating a horror-themed boardgame with me. Naturally, I had to make him his own player card!

That's our game's killer, Otis, preparing to kill Jason with the film stock of the very movie that the game is parodying. It's game-ception.

Larvae Flywalker

A birthday card for my buddy Darrell Watson. We created a shortfilm called "Bug Wars" back in highschool. JJ Abrams is gonna have a tough time topping it!

Happy Birthday, Ethan Karson!

Ethan is a co-worker and fellow member of the Pixar improv troupe, The Improvibles.

It's signed from "Evil" because we have two Austins in The Improvibles, and I happen to be the more nefarious of the two.

Happy Birthday, Mom and Steve!

While my I got my artistic talent from my dad, I definitely got my sense of humor from my mom. So you can blame her for all the puns. Eye love ya, Ma!

And one more card for my step-dad, who also has an October birthday. An avid enthusiast of fish and Jesus. My goal with his card was quite clear.

Twenty-Somethings

Happy birthday to Ross Dickinson and Chris Chua, a couple of real Dandies!

This probably isn't the first drawing of an anthropomorphised d20 toting medieval weapons, but it's my drawing of an anthropomorphized d20 toting medieval weapons, dammit!

Happy Birthday, Rebecca Stockley!

The first thing you learn in Rebecca's improvised acting class is to say "Yes, and..." instead of "No, but..." It's the general practice of plussing someone else's idea instead of shutting it down. An idea may seem mediocre, but that's the challenge: using what works, and making it great.

YES it's Rebecca's birthday AND we wish her an amazing one!

If you're in San Francisco, you can see Rebecca perform at BATS (Bay Area Theatre Sports) in Fort Mason.

Why the long fez?

Happy birthday to my pal, Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls! I've known Alex since high school and if there's one guy better (worse?) than me when it comes to puns, it's this guy!

Jtop Levels Up

While I'm on the subject of birthday cards, here's another that I did for my friend and fellow gamer Jtop.

Jay was gracious enough to pose with his new portrait. A stunning likeness, if I don't say so myself!

For Jay's birthday, we had a massive gaming marathon. 48 hours of Space Alert, Drakon, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Marvel v Capcom, Left 4 Dead, Robo Rally, Resistance, Aye Dark Overlord, Star Wars Kinect, and Smallworld. Basically, the ideal weekend.

A New Birthday Tradition

I know I'm already a week late on posting the Chades Challenge entries, but I have to take the time to post these amazing dinosaur images. My Pixarian chums Cat Hicks and Chris Chua urged their followers to send me 90s prehistoric clipart for my birthday, and the twitterverse did not disappoint!

Let's hope this becomes a new birthday tradition.

Bruno Chekerdimian, who illustrated this bloody fantastic Meridasaurus

Amar Dosanj, a fellow paleontologist from the UK

Hannah Foss

Fellow Pixarian and Improvible, Christian Roman, sent in a Batman just for good measure.

And Carrie Liao blew them all away with a Batman Dinosaur. Bane's going to have a tough time breaking this hero's back.

Thanks for all the dino-might you guys! Much obliged!
